Ridgway Athletic Park/Frontier Field

The Ridgway Athletic Park is 18.5 acres in size and is adjacent to the Town’s southernmost boundary off of County Road 23. The Park is highly utilized and treasured by residents and offers recreational activities for many different user groups including, but not limited to: tennis, pickleball, basketball, the skate park, soccer, baseball, the bike park, informal dog walking, and passive recreation. Other amenities at the Athletic Park include a gazebo, restrooms, gravel parking areas, and a large pavilion that can be used for events. The Athletic Park also offers stunning 360 degrees views of the surrounding landscape and open recreation areas.

In 2023, the Ridgway Athletic Park Master Plan was developed by a design team at DHM Design through a comprehensive public process. The Plan acts as a guide for the future development of the Athletic Park. This document features information on existing conditions, a preferred concept plan, community engagement and background, as well as funding opportunities and a preliminary opinion of probable costs. The final preferred master plan design focuses on athletic uses for the park, while also maintaining the well-loved panoramic views and openness of the space.

Summer 2025 Tennis/Pickleball Court Schedule:

Inside priority times: (M-W-F-Sun mornings for pickleball; T-Th-Sat mornings for tennis) The other sport yields play area to the priority sport upon arrival, finishing the game underway.

Outside priority times: (afternoon every day) The Town of Ridgway requests that all users of the courts abide by the following policies:

  • Use of the courts is on a first come, first serve basis.
  • An event scheduled through Ridgway Town Hall is an exception.
  • If others are waiting, limit play to one set (three games) or one hour, whichever comes first.
  • When courts are being utilized by pickleball players and tennis players arrive the following applies:
    • If other pickleball courts are available (i.e., basketball courts) then pickleball players will yield to tennis and relocate to the available courts, this will allow for increased play time and less waiting for all.  Pickleball players are allowed to finish their set before relocating, if desired.
    • If other pickleball courts are not available, the tennis players will enter the rotation or line up to play as they would with other tennis players.  Rotation is expected after each set or after one hour whichever come first.
